The unlimited ERA for TML
2002 will be 4.58. Anyone at 4.58 and over is
limited to 40 starts and 90 appearances.
Well, we are off to a rousing start! 26 of the first period's 48 series have already been reported and the deadline is still almost 3 weeks away.
All contingency MPs but 1 have been received! Thanks!
Nothing has firmed up yet except that Kentucky is back with a vengeance!!!! More on TML2002 in the next edition.
Congratulations to Shawn Hamilton and his Millenium Falcons for winning the TML2001 Championship. The Falcons prevailed over Scott Lagace's Mudville Bandits in 6 hard fought games. This marks the franchise's second championship. The first championship was in TML1936 won by the Weisbaden Vikings.

Both drafts will be held (via AOL Instant Messenger) on Saturday, May 17th. The 1953 draft will kick off at noon followed by the 1969 draft at 2. All times are eastern.
We are looking for a manager in both of these years as Dave Pittner has retired from the retros.
Rogers Hornsby of Richmond was the selection as Player of the Period for Period 4 by hitting .413, slugging .761 (1.229 OPS) on 45 hits, 29 runs scored, 33 RBIs and 39 RCs on 8 homers. Honorable Mentions to Mel Ott of NY (11 homers), Harvey Hendrick (NA) who hit .432 and had a 1.171 OPS. 10th man on the list this time hit .381.
George Blaeholder of Albany led the way in pitching this time. Blaeholder went 6-0 to nudge out Vic Sorrell of The Dawgs (5-1) and Ben Cantwell of RR (0.91, .189 BAA).
Ranier and Richmond had 20 win periods each going 20-8 as they both picked up 6 games on the Wild Weasels. The Weasels now hold a 4 game lead over Rainier and a 7 game lead over Richmond.
The Abrams Tanks and Albany Avalanche both went 17-11 to move the Tanks into first place by a game over McGraw. North Adams hangs 3 games back and Albany 5.
Both division races should come down to the last game as all the teams will be knocking heads against each other.
Jimmie Foxx of Beach City is hitting .398 and holds a 6 point lead over The Dawg's Bill Terry for the Batting title. Mel Ott of New York is the OPS leader as well as leading the Bambino (38-36) in the homerun chase. Chuck Klein (DY) stands at 34. Currently 7 batters (Ruth, Ott, Babe Herman, Tony Lazzeri, Lefty O'Doul, Klein and Lou Gehrig) are averaging over an RBI a game!!
Ted Lyons leads the way in ERA with a 2.25. Burleigh Grimes of Wild has dashed off to a sparkling 13-2 record. Ray Kremer of Abrams is the wins leader at 15.
Simply put, Beach City is on cruise control just waiting for someone to come out of the Eastern Conference to play in the World Series. Further simply put, if New York could win at home, they would be printing tickets. The Dukes are up by 9 and can see the finish line, although Rainier had a spectacular 24-4 period but could not gain much ground of the Dukes as they had a next best 20-8. The Woodchoppers ground out 19 wins as Joe DiMaggio woke up. The East finds the merry go round starting as 6 of the 7 teams are within 8 games of the lead, currently held by 1 by the Abrams Tanks!
Player honors go to Chuck Klein of Abrams who netted 30 RCs on a 1.024 OPS behind 8 homers and 26 rbi's. Runners up were Mel Ott of McGraw (.699 slugging, 9 homers, 23 rbi's, 1.151 OPS) and Johnny Mize (1.064 OPS, 8 homers, 25 RBI's, 29 RC) of Rainier.
Luke Hamlin of Rainier and Bucky Walters of Albany both won 6 times to nudge out both Curt Davis and Dizzy Trout of Rainier (each going 5-0).
Both Hal Trosky of AV and Johnny Mize of RR atre leading the leage hitting .349 apiece. Jimmie Foxx of Abrams and Ted Williams of New York hold the homerun lead with 32, while Johnny Mize sits 1 back. Mize has an OPS of 1.171 to lead Williams at 1.096.
Hugh Casey of Beach City leads the way in wins with 17 while King Carl Hubbell of Richmond is the ERA leader at 2.02. Rapid Robert Feller of St. Louis leads the league in whiffs with 163. Johnny VanderMeer of WW is 3rd in the league in strikeouts. His 126 K's nearly match his league leading 121 walks!!!
Bill Lanke of Wabash has notified me that this will be his last year in 1929 and 1939. Bill says that he cannot relate to most of the players as it just too far back. Bill will be a big loss as he has been an exemplary manager and will be missed.
We will have 2 openings in both 1929 and 1939 if anyone out there has anyone interested.
1930 and 1940 will both draft in the fall with a January (late) kick off.
The standard TML series naming convention is HHRRYY (Home team initial, Road team initial, TML Year) when reporting a series. Also please note that AT is the Abrams Tankers and DM is Andrew's Team. Don names his teams for his grandchildren but we maintain the team initials as DM.
Also remember that both the 1929 and 1939 schedules do not have a built in rest day after game 4. After game 4 please go to options and clear fatigue for both teams. I have noticed that the game 5 starters seem to be getting hit rather hard and it might be because rest is not being cleared.
That's it for now.
Any problems send me an eMail.
I hope you are all looking forward to real baseball as much as me. I hate Winter!
