Deadlines for Period 7 in 1951 and Series 13 in 2000 is October 1st. The races are both still tight in 1951 and three of them are still going strong in 2000.

TML2000

The Buffalo Meat did all the damage in Period 6! Buffalo stretched their division lead out to 6 games over the Fallsburg Marauders and 7 over the Millennium with the finish line drawing into sight. How did the Meat do it? By scoring the most runs and giving up the fewest. Carlos Delgado led the assault on any visitor to the Meat Locker!

Troy lengthened their Clemente lead by 2 game to by taking 8 of 14 against second place New York. Miami moved within 1 game of Gotham City in the Mays Division by posting the league’s second best record at 11-3. Zaca’s is waiting 5 games back.

McGraw remained 5 back of Mudville in the Mantle as both went 9-5 and pushed Berne 2 further back at 9 out!

Mudville/McGraw, Miami/Gotham City and Buffalo/Fallsburg go head to head in series 13, which can drive the races either way. We will be back to you in 3 weeks to let you know. Keep your eyes on the web page.

Co - Player of the Period honors this time to Jeff Bagwell of Fallsburg and Barry Bonds of Troy. Bagwell hit .444 with 7 homers, slugged 1.000 with a .552 OB% and 25 Runs Created. Barry hit .435, scored 22 runs with 7 homers and 18 runs batted in and a .957 slugging % and 1.542 OPS with 29 runs created. Believe it or not, Vladimir Guerrero has snuck to within 5 points of Nomar Garciaparra in batting average has shrunk at .384

In the pitching department – the winner is Chuck Finley of McGraw. Finley was 3-0 (2 shutouts) with a 1.67 ERA to lead the pack. Curt Schilling of Commack was the runner up posting a 0.50 ERA. Trevor Hoffman of Mudville had 6 saves with a 0.00 ERA in his 8 appearances.

TML1951

14 games to go and 2 divisions up in the air.

  1. Disney World went 10-4 to sneak to within 3 games of North Country
  2. Andrew’s team went 10-4 (second only to Richmond’s triumphant 12-2 series) to move to 2 games back of Rainier. Buffalo went 7-7 to fall 5 back.
So, here is how it shakes out for the final 14:
Buffalo (87-53) hosts McGraw (73-67)
Andrew’s Team (90-50) hosts Rainier (92-48)
Rainier is home to Buffalo AND
Andrew goes to Sleepy Town (34-106)

Disney (82-58) hosts New York (71-69)
Mudville (64-76) hosts Disney
North Country (85-55) is host to Troy (72-68)
New York hosts North Country

Player of the series goes to Red Schoendienst of Richmond. Schoendienst hit .500, scored 24 runs on 31 hits, 49 TB, .790 slugging, .569 OB, 1.359 OPS and created 29 runs. All of these were series highs. Runner up was Yogi Berra of Rainier. Yogi hit .475 with 6 homers and 19 RBI’s. and a 1.310 OPS.

The big hurler of the period was Ewell Blackwell of North Country for going 4-0 with a 3.15 ERA. Honorable mention to Ned Garver of Commack, Early Wynn of McGraw and Bob Feller of Troy. Special mention to Howie Fox of Richmond for going 4-0 while giving up nearly 5 runs a game!

Stan the Man Musial has moved to within .002 of Jackie Robinson in the batting race. Who will be the last standing!
