The seasons have gotten off to rousing starts. Deadlines for Period 2 in 1951 and Period 3 in 2000 are June 4th. If you haven’t sent your automanagers for any of your upcoming series, what are you waiting for?

A couple housekeeping things before I forget.

We have some new managers from other Leagues and this is just a reminder of some differences in the TML from other leagues.

  1. There is an off day after the 4th game of every series whether it is retro or current.
  2. When starting a series, please name your series with the last 2 characters of the season. For example: After picking NY as the home team and DY as the visitors, Diamond Dreams will default to a series ID of NYDY. If you are playing a 1951 series, please add 51 to the ID, making the series ID NYDY51.
  3. Your full roster is available for every series, all season.
  4. Watch your overuse. Let me rephrase. We don’t like overuse.
  5. Send the .box, .lst, .sco and .sts files to the opposing manager AND me (Jim).
  6. Jim doesn’t like it when he hears:
    1. The Day before the end of the series that you haven’t received an automanager
    2. The visiting manager asking me for a copy of #5
  7. If you are going to be late, let me know. It reduces my blood pressure.
  8. TML2000

There are going to be some battles this year.

Every division leader is within 2 games of second place. Look at the Mays! Good to see teams like Disney, Mudville, Miami and Millennium in the hunt!

Scott Schoenweis of Disney World was a runaway pitcher of the series for Period 2. Schoenweis went 5-0 with a 1.50 ERA and was the author of a no-hitter.

Todd Helton of Millennium just edged out Nomar Garciaparra of North Country for player of the series. Helton created 31 runs in 20 games leading Millennium into the second spot in the Aaron.

    TML1951

Oh what fun it is to ride…..

After a nearly 3 year layoff, it is back to the future and 1951 has kicked off. After the huge offensive explosions in 1999 and 2000, it is strange to see the league home run leader with 7 after 20 games. Not bad, just strange.

1951 was a different ballgame. The walk explosion of 1949 and 1950 has subsided and it is a kinder, gentler, tougher era. Again the races here look to be for the whole season. Buffalo and Rainier have the looks of champions while North Country tries to hold off New York, Disney, and Troy.

Period 1 saw Bobby Thomson of Buffalo named Player of the Series. Thomson hit .344 with 7 homers and 15 RBI’s and created 25. Jackie Robinson of New York parlayed a .392 BA and .500 On Base into 23 RC’s and the runner up slot.

Early Wynn of McGraw and Warren Spahn of Mudville ran ahead of the pack in the first period. Wynn was 6-1 and Spahn 5-2. I couldn’t choose between them, so they share the honor this period. (How good it is to see those names!)

    Season Kickoff

I want to thank the local crew who came over to keep George Mowry company a few weeks ago. A lot of series were played and it was good to see everyone.

Anyone for a fall get together to kick off 1967 and complete 2000?

That’s about all for now. I hope you are all well.
